Brewin Dolphin has appointed Ruth Murphy as head of charity business development, effective this summer.

Murphy was most recently a director of investment management and charities business development, responsible for the marketing and business development for a fund management group.

She has worked in and with the voluntary sector for nearly thirty years for such organisations as SCOPE and Charities Aid Foundation, with the latter as executive director of charity services, managing investment, banking and administration services for charities. Murphy is also a committee member of the Charity Investors’ Group and a charity trustee.

In her new role Murphy is charged with spearheading the development of Brewin Dolphin's specialised business for charities services - a business line which the firm is looking to increase substantially; it currently has some £1.7 billion ($2.72 billion) in funds under management on behalf of charity clients, as at end 2010.
