The appointment is subject to regulatory approval.

JP Morgan Asset Management has appointed Patrick Thomson as chief executive of Europe, Middle East and Africa, WealthBriefing understands.

Thomson, who will retain his responsibilities as international head of institutional clients, will replace Mike O'Brien, who is relocating to New York to focus on his other duties as co-head of asset management solutions, in the role.

The appointment is subject to regulatory approval.

O'Brien will continue to act as CEO and will oversee the region as Thomson's appointment is finalised and to ensure a seamless transition.

This publication reported in December that the asset management arms of Banco Santander and JP Morgan inked a partnership deal in Brazil.
