Brewin Dolphin Holdings has appointed a non-executive director to its board.

Joining is Kath Cates, former chief operating officer of wholesale banking at Standard Chartered.

Prior to this, she spent 22 years at UBS holding a number of roles including regional operating officer and head of management office in Asia Pacific, as well as its global head of compliance.

“[Cates] has extensive international financial services experience, and a thorough knowledge of control, governance and risk management and I look forward to the contribution that she will bring to the board," said Simon Miller, chairman of Brewin Dolphin.

Cates remains as non-executive director and chair of the risk committee and member of the audit and remuneration committees for RIA Insurance.
