RBS Appoints Singapore Country Head

Royal Bank of Scotland, which owns a large private banking operation, has recently bolstered its Asian operations with the appointment of Madan Menon as country executive for Singapore, the company said in a statement.

This new role will be in addition to Menon's existing responsibilities as head of global banking and markets for India and head of global banking for South East Asia. Singapore is RBS' hub for fixed income, currencies and commodities trading and sales, as well as credit risk management and global transaction services. The city-state also houses the company's Asia operations centre, which provides global infrastructure support.

Menon reports to John McCormick, the Asia Pacific chairman for RBS, and Matthew Kirkby, the global head of corporate finance and head of global banking for Asia Pacific. Before he joined RBS in 2007, he was co-CEO for India at Barclays Capital. Prior to that, he worked for American Express Bank, also in India.

RBS is the parent of Coutts, the UK private bank, and RBS Coutts, its international private banking arm, and has been building its regional presence in Asia in recent months.
