Connection Capital Names New CEO, Partner

Among the achievements of the new CEO, he delivered consistently strong double-digit net returns for investors, built and managed a high performing team, and successfully managed business during the volatility of the Covid period.

London-headquartered Connection Capital, a private client alternative investment business, has appointed Sam Kemp as chief executive officer and partner. This is a newly-created role that will support the firm’s continued growth and development as demand for private market investments continues to expand, the firm said in a statement.

Kemp, who will lead the day-to-day management of the business and work with the leadership team to drive the firm’s next phase of growth, has extensive experience in banking, venture building and asset management. A graduate of the University of Nottingham, he also holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth. Kemp began his career in banking at Rothschild & Co before moving to Barclays, where his work involved funding high growth technology businesses. Later, he joined Blenheim Chalcot, a prominent UK venture builder, serving as a managing director before becoming chief executive officer of BCI Capital, an asset manager established to launch and manage credit strategies.

During his tenure leading BCI Capital from 2017 to 2025, Kemp delivered consistently strong double-digit net returns for investors, built and managed a high performing team, and successfully managed the business during the volatility of the Covid period, while operating within a regulated framework. He also expanded and diversified the investor base, growing relationships with high net worth and family office clients.

“We are delighted to welcome Sam to the team at an exciting time for the business,” Claire Madden, co-founder and managing partner, said. “There is an ever-increasing awareness that private market investments should be included in private client portfolios – Sam’s experience will help us to build on our client offering across both funds and single asset deals."

WealthBriefing spoke to Madden last month about the potential issues with so-called "evergreen" funds.
