US legal and financial services group, Katten Muchin Rosenman Financial Services Group, has opened a London office in conjunction with Martin Cornish, the former principal of MW Cornish Solicitors. The firm will specialise in hedge fund, money manager and other financial services business. The new firm will be called Katten Muchin Rosenman Cornish.
Mr Cornish is a pioneer in the international hedge fund business and has over 20 years representing securities, commodities, derivatives, foreign exchange brokers and dealers. He will head up the office supported by a team of London-based lawyers, some of whom are licensed to practice in both the US and UK. The initial client base includes the several hundred hedge funds and financial intermediaries MW Cornish and KMR already represent.
“The proliferation of instant electronic trading across continents and the dramatic international expansion of hedge funds and brokerage firms required our firm to establish a significant presence in the London market,” said Arthur Hahn, partner and national chairman of KMR, in a statement.
