Carey Olsen Litigation Partner To Become Next Jersey Attorney General

Carey Olsen litigation partner Robert MacRae has been appointed to the office of Attorney General of Jersey with effect from April 2015, succeeding Timothy Le Cocq QC.

to the office of Attorney General of Jersey with effect from
April 2015, succeeding Timothy Le Cocq QC.
The appointment has been made on the recommendation of both the
Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice and has been
approved by the Queen.
MacRae’s firm said it is the first occasion on which a member of
Carey Olsen in Jersey has been made a Crown Officer. MacRae, who
was called to the English Bar in 1990, practiced in England for
10 years and was called to the Jersey Bar in 2003. He has
been a partner in Carey Olsen's Jersey office since 2005 and was
appointed a Crown Advocate in 2008.
The Attorney General provides legal advice to the Crown and the
States of Jersey (Legislative Assembly) and is also the chief
prosecutor and head of the honorary police in the island.
