Withers, the international law firm, is relocating one of its top lawyers in London to lead its new Asian corporate and finance practice in Hong Kong.

Denis Petkovic, head of international finance and projects practice in London, brings 30 years of experience representing lenders, developers and investors from various sectors. The move strengthens the firm's continuing expansion strategy in the Asian region, particularly in the corporate space.

"Withers has spent the first five years in the region focused on wealth planning and family practices. We have seen a growing demand for extend serviecs to sophisticated corporate and finance advice related to wealth planning and also stand-alone transactions in the corporate and banking sectors," said Margaret Robertson, managing partners at Withers, in a statement.

Since the start of 2013, Withers has hired seven partners across its Hong Kong and Singapore offices. The firm established itself in the region in 2008 and has not only opened two regional branches (Hong Kong in 2008 and Singapoer in 2012), but also appointed and relocated senior executives to aid the buildout, including moving Erik Wallace from the UK to lead the US tax and wealth planning team in Hong Kong and naming Rita Ku as its first Chinese partner.
