UK Private Bank Names Audit Head

Brown Shipley, the UK-based private bank, has appointed Michael Chambers as head of internal audit.

Chambers latterly worked in risk and control in the asset management division of the Co-operative Banking Group. He has also worked for Deloitte and KPMG.

Chambers will be based in Brown Shipley’s Manchester office. Its other bases are in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds and Edinburgh.

In other recent senior hires, at the end of last month the bank appointed private client director Charles Fotheringham to head its Edinburgh office.

Fotheringham, who will continue to look after his own clients, took over from Graham Auld, who retired at the end of August but still has an ambassadorial role with the firm.

Brown Shipley is now ultimately owned by Luxembourg-based Precision Capital. Brown Shipley’s parent company, KBL European Private Bankers, was bought by Precision at the start of August for €1 billion ($1.3 billion). KBL European Private Bankers is a European network of local private banking businesses, of which Brown Shipley is the UK arm.
