Asia's Lioner Pushes Into Swiss Market

Established in Hong Kong in 2021, the group has set up its first non-Asia base.

Lioner International Group, an insurance firm, family office and trust consortium, has opened a Zurich office – the first time the group has expanded outside its home turf in Asia.

The firm has appointed Giorgio Jeni (main picture), who has worked at several major banks, as partner and head of Switzerland. Jeni brings more than 27 years’ experience in the HNW life insurance and wealth management industry, having held senior roles at HSBC, UBS, Julius Baer, and Credit Suisse, Lioner said in a statement today.

While Boston Consulting Group recently reported that Hong Kong has now matched Switzerland as the world’s largest cross-border centre, the Alpine state remains a major one in wealth management, private banking, family offices and related fields. BCG said Switzerland is home to more than $2.9 trillion in offshore assets (as of 2025).

“Switzerland is a natural next step in our global journey. Its reputation as a trusted and sophisticated financial centre aligns with our mission to deliver total solutions in protection, legacy, and succession planning,” Tony Chan, founder of Lioner, said.

The group, founded in 2021, already has operations in Hong Kong, Singapore and Beijing.

Jeni added: “Switzerland is an ideal hub for our integrated platform – its clients are global, their needs increasingly complex, and expectations are rising for solutions that combine technical depth with cultural fluency.”

Other joiners
Lioner said Yaru Gao and Maurice Ho have joined its Swiss team.

Gao (pictured below) is joining as senior consultant, and Ho (pictured below) joins as consultant, reporting to Jeni.

Ho, who specialises in insurance solutions for HNW individuals, has more than 20 years of experience in Hong Kong, Greater China and international markets.

In March last year, Lioner appointed former HSBC private banking figure Andy Leung as managing director in consultancy.
