Schroder Investment Solutions (SIS) has launched the Schroder Alternatives Fund, a multi-asset fund which aims to provide investors within the model portfolios access to a diverse range of alternative investment strategies.

The fund offers the potential for differentiated returns, portfolio diversification, and reduced risk; it also aims to give investors access to alternative assets on retail investment platforms, the firm said in a statement.

One of the benefits of the fund is that it allows investors to access alternative investments that are not directly available on UK retail platforms, the firm continued. It also offers an opportunity for a range of investors to benefit from the potential returns and diversification benefits that alternative investments can provide – traditionally more difficult to access on platforms.

The fund will offer investors exposure to a carefully selected range of alternative investment strategies, including private equity, hedge funds, commodities, real assets and specialised property. The fund will be managed by the SIS team which has been managing the alternatives component of the SIS Model Portfolio Service (MPS) for several years, the firm added. It is exclusively available to clients invested in SIS' MPS range. This exclusivity ensures that only SIS clients have access to this investment opportunity, the firm said.

The fund also aims to provide returns that are not correlated to traditional markets, offering investors diversification benefits in a world of increased volatility. By incorporating the best ideas of diversified alternative investments across the market, the fund aims to provide exposure to a range of non-traditional asset classes.
