Brooks Macdonald Appoints Private Wealth Manager

The UK investment manager has added to its private wealth team in the Channel Islands.

Brooks Macdonald has hired Toby Birch as a private wealth manager within its Guernsey office.

Birch, who brings 25 years of industry experience, worked at family office Blackfish Capital Holdings before establishing a bullion dealing service, which he sold last year. He has also served as an investment manager at Julius Baer.

In his new role, he will help clients consolidate their pensions and portfolios. He is also as an independent director of several investment funds.

“Toby is a key appointment for us at Brooks Macdonald. He brings with him a wealth of experience and will add real value to our existing and future private clients,” said James Hollowell, director, retirement services at Brooks Macdonald.

Brooks Macdonald, which began trading on London's Alternative Investment Market in 2005, had £8.3 billion ($11 billion) in discretionary funds under management as at 30 June 2016. The company provides investment management services to private high net worth individuals, pension funds, institutions, charities and trusts.

The Channel Islands arm of Brooks Macdonald is the company's hub for supporting discretionary investment management services internationally – across Europe, South Africa and the Middle East.
