Julius Baer Hires From Swisscanto For Fixed Income Leadership Role

The Swiss private bank has made a senior appointment to its portfolio management team.
Zurich-headquartered Julius Baer has hired Jérôme Benathan from Swisscanto Asset Management as head of fixed income mandates and funds.
Benathan, who brings 20 years of experience in the financial sector, spent the last eight years as senior portfolio manager and head of credit at Swisscanto Asset Management. He was previosuly senior high yield credit analyst at Man Group in the leveraged finance department.
Benathan will take on the newly-created role in November to lead the fixed income teams and boost the bank’s offering in this area. Based in Zurich, he will report to Julius Baer’s head of global portfolio management, Daniel Kerbach.
“I am very pleased that with the appointment of Jérôme Benathan we have succeeded in recruiting a seasoned expert in the area of Fixed Income. With his in-depth knowledge and outstanding track record he is the right person to further develop our offering and bring our Portfolio Management services to the next level,” said Kerbach.
Julius Baer, which is present in over 25 countries, had SFr 284 billion ($292 billion) of assets under management as of the end of June. Earlier this week, it appointed Gerassimos Spyridakis to head up the newly created sub-region of Africa & Eastern Mediterranean.
