Sarasin & Partners Hires Fund Manager As Attention Turns To Emerging Markets

Sarasin & Partners has cemented its plans to expand its emerging market capabilities with the appointment of a fund manager to its global thematic equity team.

Sarasin & Partners has appointed a fund manager to its global thematic equity team.

Mark Julio joins Sarasin & Partners to “enhance its pool of emerging market thematic investment ideas”, the London-based firm said in a statement.

He will manage the Sarasin EquiSar fund alongside Harry Talbot Rice - which invests in developed and emerging markets worldwide.

Julio latterly served as a portfolio manager for global emerging market equities at Ignis Asset Management.  He has worked at Baring Asset Management as a portfolio manager, as well as an equity research analyst at HSBC Global Banking and Markets.

“Mark joins at a time when we see long term thematic opportunities emerging in the restructuring of state owned enterprises, the growing strength of EM franchises as well as key security of supply opportunities in food, energy and minerals. His experience will also help in harnessing growing dividend flows from the emerging world which are increasingly important for the equity income mandates of our charities and private investors,” Guy Monson, managing director and chief executive at Sarasin & Partners said.
