Barclays Wealth has agreed to sponsor the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra to the tune of £30,000 per year for the next three years. The funding will be used to support the CBSO's national and international touring programme and to enable the CBSO to realise their strategy of expanding their repertoire, educating young musicians and reaching more people through increased performances and recordings. According to Barclays Wealth, the sponsorship demonstrates its commitment to the Midlands as it continues to expand its UK regional presence. Barclays Wealth has two offices in Birmingham and currently employs 130 staff in the city. Ian Ewart, head of marketing for Barclays Wealth said: "We are delighted to have agreed to support the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra over the next three years. This is a demonstration of our commitment to the City as we continue to expand our operations both in Birmingham and across the UK. The orchestra's focus on leveraging its national and international presence from the regions fits closely with Barclays Wealth's strategy, as does their ethic of education and diversity. We look forward to supporting the orchestra over the next few years as they look to expand their reach both in the UK and internationally."
