Coutts Names Isle Of Man Director

Coutts, the wealth management arm of Royal Bank of Scotland, has appointed David Batey as director of its Isle of Man business, a role in which he will lead the wealth management team located in the UK Crown Dependency.
Batey is a 29-year veteran of the RBS Group. He was most recently regional director for RBS Private Banking for the northern and eastern London areas, which included responsibility for both the Drummonds and Child & Co brands. Before this he was private banking regional director for the eastern region.
Batey will now report to Paul Eva, executive director.
In other recent appointments, at the start of this month Coutts named senior manager Nick Gornall as head of UK learning and professional development; the firm is taking a new approach to educating wealth management professionals worldwide.
Gornall was previously a private banking head for the entrepreneurs client group at Coutts and for its south east and south west regional businesses in the UK. These businesses are now managed by Paul Smith - as announced in October 2011. Gornall has held a number of roles in Coutts' change programme. He led the business readiness component of its new IT platform, Avaloq, and more recently put together an advisor training programme in conjunction with the Judge Business School at Cambridge.
In taking on the role, Gornall is a counterpart to Nick Pollard, who was appointed to the role of international learning and professional development in September.
