Barclays Wealth Builds EMEA Alternative Investments Business

Barclays Wealth has hired four new senior executives to its EMEA Alternative Investment Origination and Distribution teams, in a move aimed at widening its range in the hedge fund and private equity market.

Boudewijn Jansen and Sarah Newman will join the team as head of private equity origination and head of hedge fund origination respectively.

Jamie Murray will join as director and Emily Smart has been appointed as hedge fund specialist and will report to Murray.

Prior to joining Barclays Wealth Jansen was global head of private equity at HSBC Alternative Investments, responsible for developing the product offering for HSBC Private Bank.

Newman previously spent fourteen years with the Equity Derivatives and Fund Linked Products/Derivatives businesses at JP Morgan Chase, BNP Paribas and Credit Suisse.

Murray was most recently an associate director responsible for hedge fund PR at financial PR agency Broadgate Mainland, prior to which he was an executive director at Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners and specialised in the fund of funds distribution business at HSBC.

Smart was formerly a director at UBS Wealth Management where she was responsible for identifying and evaluating hedge funds for the client advisory platform.
