Real Return Strategies Specialist Rejoins Newton
Newton, the London-based asset manager which is part of BNY Mellon, has appointed Suzanne Hutchins to the newly-created role of real return portfolio manager and investment specialist.
In her new role, Hutchins will provide investment management and product specialist support to the firm’s real return strategies team and will serve as the primary point of contact for clients, both internally and externally. She reports to Iain Stewart, Newton’s director of investment.
Hutchins is rejoining Newton after a five-year period stint at Capital International, where she was latterly investment specialist for global equity and income-based investment strategy, having joined the firm from Newton in 2005. Hutchins’ first tenure at Newton began in 1991, when she joined as a trainee research analyst, and before her departure she had been team leader of the intrepid team (which is now known as the real return team).
“We are currently receiving increased interest in our [real return strategies] offering and we believe that we are now well placed to increase our market share of this sector. Suzanne will be a key component to our drive to build out our footprint in both the wholesale and institutional markets,” Helen Morrissey, Newton’s chief executive, said in a statement.
Hutchins’ hire closely follows the addition of investment manager Terry Coles to Newton’s global equities team at the end of last month. Coles was previously a director within F&C Asset Management’s global equities team.
