BNY Mellon Asset Management Names New Interim Head

New York-listed BNY Mellon has appointed Mitchell Harris as the sole interim head for its asset management business following the resignation of Jon Little, who is leaving the firm to accept another role within the industry.

Harris takes on the interim leadership role in addition to his position as chairman of the asset management business’ fixed income, cash and currency group, overseeing over $500 billion in assets under management, including Pareto Partners, Standish Mellon Asset Management, Alcentra and BNY Mellon Cash Investment Strategies.

During his career Harris has served as the chief executive of both Standish and Pareto. Prior to joining the latter in 1993, he worked at Citibank for 14 years, during his tenure managing the firm’s private banking business in Germany and Jersey (Channel Islands), along with the London private bank for European marketing.

BNY Mellon has said that it is currently conducting a “comprehensive search for a permanent head of the asset management business, considering internal and external candidates.”

Details of Little’s new role have yet to emerge.
