German Bank Expands SME Range In China
Commerzbank, the international financial services firm, is
poised to expand its range of services for small and medium
enterprises through its new Beijing office.
"With the expansion of the range of services and products offered
in Beijing, Commerzbank emphasizes its claim that it is the
leading bank for internationally active SMEs," said
Bernd Laber, the bank's international segment head for SMEs,
in a statement.
"For a successful environment in Asia, it is vital for SMEs to
prudently balance opportunities and risks. Similarly, we want to
be a partner of local Chinese companies in this region who
conduct business in Germany. In addition, we offer these
companies the biggest network of branches in Germany," Mr Laber
added.
The bank endeavors to offer its whole range of services and
products to both German and Chinese clients in Beijing, as well
investment banking and transactional services for financial
institutions.
Commerzbank has four branches in China, the most recent among
which is the Tianjin office, which was opened in September 2009.
Each of its offices offers a German desk which supports German
SMEs abroad and local support teams for foreign clients on their
way to Germany.
The bank said that it is interested in both subsidiaries of
German firms and Chinese companies represented by
subsidiaries.
The Beijing branch is headed by
Jan-Willem Sudmann.
