Maples & Calder Appoints Head Of Investment Funds In Cayman Islands

Maples and Calder, the international law firm, has appointed Jon Fowler as head of its investment funds group in the Cayman Islands.

Mr Fowler has been a partner at Maples and Calder since 2003, and has worked at the firm since 1998. In his new role, which he has already taken up, he reports to Henry Smith, global managing partner of Maples and Calder, and the global management committee.

Meanwhile David Brooks, latterly head of the investment funds group at Maples and Calder, has moved to the newly-created post of chairman of Maples Finance, the fiduciary, accounting and administration services firm. He continues to be a partner at the Maples and Calder funds group.

These changes better align resources within the firm for a year of "renewed growth in all of the firm's main practice areas, particularly investment funds,” said Mr Smith. He added that the firm had created the chairman post because it expected increased demand in the fund administration and fiduciary markets.

Maples and Calder's investment funds group also recently recruited Tatziana Paraguacuto-Maheo as a partner in its London office.
