Rathbone's Investment Arm Expands Scottish Presence

Rathbone Investment Management, the UK discretionary investment manager, has added to its presence in Scotland with a new office in Aberdeen on the country’s east coast.

The team includes John Henderson, formerly head of Rathbone’s Edinburgh office, and two former Brewin Dolphin investment directors - Norman Law and Meera Dennis.

Offices in Scotland account for more than 10 per cent of Rathbone’s client assets, the firm said in a statement.

Rathbone Brothers, parent of the investment firm, has been expanding its reach through acquisitions as well as organic growth. Last October, the firm finalised a deal with Lloyds Banking Group to buy two books of discretionary private client portfolios from Lloyds TSB Private Banking, as well as the Bank of Scotland Portfolio Management Service’s book of clients. Together, these portfolios represented £1.27 billion of funds under management, as at 31 August last year, and around 6,000 clients.
