Northern Trust Appoints EMEA Managing Director

The Chicago-headquartered banking group's asset management arm has made a senior appointment to its business in the EMEA region.

Northern Trust Asset Management has hired Hazel McNeilage as managing director for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

McNeilage brings over 30 years of financial services experience across Australia, South Africa, Asia, the US and Europe. She was most recently a consultant at Northill Capital, according to her LinkedIn profile. Before this, she was head of funds management at QIC.

McNeilage replaces John Krieg who returned to the US last year. She will lead institutional business development and relationship management for Northern Trust Asset Management’s business in EMEA. Based in London, she will report to Wayne Bowers, head of Northern Trust Asset Management for EMEA and Asia-Pacific.

“Hazel is a seasoned financial professional who, through her global experience and expertise, understands the particular investment needs of sophisticated institutional investors,” said Bowers.

“Hazel brings deep knowledge of asset management coupled with strong board governance experience, and her leadership will continue to position us for growth across the region.”

Northern Trust provides wealth management, asset servicing, asset management and banking to corporations, institutions, affluent families and individuals. As of the end of September, the group had assets under custody of $6 trillion, and assets under management of $887 billion.
