Standard Life Uses Year Of Its Creation As Name For New Financial Planning Unit

A date from the early 19th century is the name of a new financial planning unit of Standard Life.

UK-listed Standard Life has named its new financial planning business 1825. This follows the announcement made by the firm in February that it would build a wholly-owned, UK-wide financial planning business to meet the expected surge in demand for advice over new freedoms on how to invest pension savings.

The 1825 team will provide clients with advice on protection, trusts, tax, wealth management and retirement planning as well as day-to-day cash and borrowing through a comprehensive financial planning service.

The financial planning business will also offer a range of investment options to meet a variety of client goals and risk profiles. These options include portfolios specifically designed for 1825 with expert asset allocation and fund selection provided by Standard Life Wealth and supported by Standard Life Investments.

“Since Standard Life was founded in 1825, our business has changed over time to meet customers’ needs. Our brand has been a constant - a promise and expectation of quality for our customers. Building on our 190 year heritage while signposting our new advice services, we’re introducing 1825 as the brand name of our financial advice business.” said Steve Murray, 1825 chief executive.

“It’s never been more complex for people to save, retire and plan for the future, so quality financial advice has become a must-have for many. At the same time, there is a capacity crunch in the UK advice market, with many people unable to access the advice they want. By cutting through the complexity, we’re aiming to help our clients better understand their financial situation to achieve their aspirations and goals.”

Standard Life acquired Pearson Jones in February and will become the North East hub of the financial planning business. 1825 has offices in Edinburgh, Leeds, Sheffield, Bishop Auckland and Reading.

The launch of 1825, Standard life stated, represents an exciting new chapter for Standard Life and combines the strength of one of the UK’s oldest financial services brands with a modern approach to financial advice.

Standard Life is responsible for the administration of over £312 billion ($486 billion) of assets on behalf of its customers and clients at the end of March 2015. It was listed in the 2014 Fortune Global 500.
