Barclays W&IM Hires Citi Executive To Run UK Private Bank

UK-listed Barclays has named Dena Brumpton as the new head of its UK private banking business.
Barclays Wealth and Investment Management has appointed Citi Private Bank's global chief operating officer Dena Brumpton to lead its UK private bank.
Brumpton will join the London office in September as head of UK private bank after a 30-year career at Citigroup. Before leading global operations at Citi Private Bank, she served as head of strategy and chief of staff for Citi's corporate and investment bank.
Based in London, Brumpton will run the UK private banking business and steer Barclays’ growth strategy in the UK. She will report to the chief executive of Barclays Wealth and Investment Management, Akshaya Bhargava.
Her appointment follows the group's split of UK and European private banking responsibilities, previously held by Henry Fischel-Bock, into two separate roles. As part of the restructure, Francesco Grosoli was appointed as head of wealth management for Europe in January.
“Following the appointment of Francesco Grosoli as head of wealth management Europe, we have been looking for a talented individual to lead the UK private bank,” said Bhargava.
“With her strong banking background, proven leadership qualities and a passion to drive our vision and strategy, we see Dena as the ideal person to take this business to the next level.”
