Tilney Bestinvest Brings On Ex-FSA Chief

Tilney Bestinvest has welcomed the former boss of the UK financial watchdog as a non-executive director.

Tilney Bestinvest, the UK-based investment and financial planning group, has appointed the Financial Services Authority's former chief executive John Tiner to its board.

Tiner, who also served as chief executive of Resolution Group, will join the firm as a non-executive director. He is also a non-executive director of Credit Suisse Group, a member of the advisory board of Corsair Capital and, as of last month, chairman of Towergate Insurance.

Also joining Tilney Bestinvest as a non-executive director is Breon Corcoran, the current chief executive of UK-listed betting and gaming exchange Betfair. He previously spent 10 years at Ireland’s largest bookmaker, Paddy Power, as chief operating officer.

“John and Breon will each bring considerable commercial experience and strategic insight to the board of Tilney Bestinvest, particularly in the respective areas of regulation and digital business,” said the chairman of Tilney Bestinvest, Michael Covell.

“A new joint venture with Saga launching later this year represents a superb growth opportunity and, with the support of the Permira funds, we continue to explore further acquisitions subject to finding businesses that will fit well with our vision and culture, and where the services offered to our clients will be enhanced as a result.”

The board additions follow last week's hire of Nicola Audhlam-Gardiner as managing director of Saga Investment Services, the new joint venture by Saga and Tilney Bestinvest.
