PricewaterhouseCoopers has appointed Michael Spielman as a tax partner in its personal financial services practice - within the private company services group - for the New York market.

Spielman has over 15 years of experience working with individual clients, including family business owners, corporate executives, financial services clients and other high net worth individuals. Based in New York City, the firm said he will focus on expanding the practice's global footprint.

"His global perspective, grounded in his work in Europe, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East, makes him a valuable addition as we help our clients navigate an increasingly complex global wealth landscape," said Brittney Saks, partner and US leader of PwC's personal financial services practice.

Prior to joining PwC, Spielman served as Americas leader for individual global tax planning at Ernst & Young. Before that, he was a practicing tax attorney for over a decade. He also has extensive experience in domestic and international inbound mergers and acquisitions tax matters, for public and private equity clients.

PwC's personal financial services group works with around 60 per cent of the companies on the Forbes list of America's largest private firms. The unit employs some 1,800 financial planning professionals who specialize in the affairs of HNW individuals and their families.
