Cazenove Capital has named Stephen Lucas as head of European sales, a role in which he is responsible for marketing the firm’s absolute return and long-only funds to private banks, family offices and institutional investors in its core European markets.

Lucas was latterly a client director at GAM in London, promoting its range of single manager hedge funds, global fixed income and absolute return emerging market debt strategies across the UK, Europe, Australasia and the US. He has also served as business development director at Julius Baer Investments and Augustus Asset Managers.

In his new role Lucas reports to Cazenove Capital’s head of investment funds, Robin Minter-Kemp.

In other recent hires, last month Cazenove bolstered its Jersey office with the addition of Paul Battams as a portfolio manager. Battams joined Lloyds TSB Private Banking, where he was a Geneva-based equity analyst.

Battams now reports to Euan Dangerfield, head of Cazenove Capital’s private wealth management team in Jersey – which has seen its assets under management grow by over 10 per cent to £1.3 billion (around $2 billion) in the past year. Overall the firm runs £15.6 billion in client assets.

Earlier this year the firm named James Gladstone as director of financial planning, recruiting him from UBS Wealth Management, where he had been head of UK financial planning and an executive director. Prior to UBS, Gladstone worked at Rathbones and AXA Life.
