The latest senior moves and appointments in wealth management in the UK, the rest of Europe and select international locations.

HSBC Asset Management
HSBC Asset Management has appointed Marco Montanari (pictured) as global capability head, ETF and indexing, to tap into growing investor demand for passive investments.

Based in Hong Kong, Montanari reports to Guillaume Rabault, chief investment officer, quant equities. The newly-created role, which is effective from 11 January 2022 and subject to regulatory approval, will see him working with the firm’s sales and investment teams to define and build a product and service offering that reflects the strategic importance of passives to HSBC AM, the company said.

He has over 20 years’ experience in the industry, most of which was at Deutsche Bank, parent of DWS, where he was head of product management Asia-Pacific in Hong Kong, overseeing product structuring and participating in the region’s strategic management. Before that, he was head of passive asset management for 10 years following his move from London where he led fixed income ETFs structuring.

“As the importance of passive investing continues to rise across our industry, there is a significant opportunity for growth by providing comprehensive passive solutions that meet the diverse and changing needs of our clients,” Rabault said.

“Marco’s appointment will enable us to accelerate our delivery of innovative equity and fixed income solutions, combining optimal financial returns and tangible sustainability outcomes,” Xavier Baraton, global chief investment officer, said.

Montanari’s appointment comes after HSBC AM restructured its ETF business in 2020 and created an ETF and indexing unit at the end of last year, bringing the firm’s passive division under one entity.

Crestbridge
Crestbridge, the global administration, management and corporate governance solutions business, has appointed Martin Lambert as head of UK operations.

Lambert, who will be joining the Crestbridge senior leadership team, will be based in London. He will replace Paul Windsor as head of London office who is going to retire after six years as London managing director.

Lambert has 30 years’ experience advising clients both in the UK and internationally and has built a global network to support clients seeking to establish and expand their business globally. He is joining from Grant Thornton where, as a partner, he led client service delivery across compliance, advisory, governance and transaction support.  His clients included numerous FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 companies, large privately held organisations and major in-bound groups across various sectors including real estate, hospitality, technology, and telecommunications, the firm said. Prior to that, he spent 23 years at EY, providing corporate and international tax services to large corporate businesses.

“Martin is a key hire whose experience working with both listed and private businesses across diverse industry sectors including real estate, hospitality, technology and manufacturing. This breadth of industry knowledge, coupled with his expertise in advising growing businesses of all sizes in establishing a global presence, will significantly add to our team's knowledge and advance our ability to better serve our clients,” Dean Hodcroft, chief executive officer, Crestbridge, said. “We are, of course, sorry to say goodbye to such a key individual as Paul and will greatly miss his advice, expertise, and significant knowledge. He has developed and steered the London office into the successful team it is today, and we wish him, and his family, all the very best in his retirement.”
