Private Markets Investing In APAC - Answering The Big Questions

WealthBriefingAsia has launched an exciting new research project examining the risk of private markets investing in Asia-Pacific.
As all wealth management professionals will know, rising allocations to alternatives have been an unstoppable trend in recent years. Investors around the world, and increasingly across all wealth segments too, have been on the hunt for outperformance and diversification to the great benefit of private markets. Even the pandemic only briefly knocked the trend off course: according to McKinsey’s latest annual overview, private markets assets under management soared 5.2 per cent to an all-time high of $7.4 trillion in the second half of 2020.
Wealth managers on the ground tell us that the phenomenon is particularly marked in Asia-Pacific, however, with private markets' investment opportunities proving especially attractive to a client base known for its entrepreneurialism, higher return demands and thirst for truly innovative - and interesting - additions to their portfolios.
WealthBriefingAsia is therefore delighted to be launching a new research project which will drill deep into the rise of private markets investing in Asia-Pacific and will provide an invaluable guide for firms to understand how this trend is developing. The opportunity for institutions to be able to source, evaluate and execute on the best deals is compelling, but there are many questions requiring investigation.
This ground-breaking new study will explore:
• Strength of demand and the investment
objectives fuelling this;
• Which sectors, regions and strategies
investors favour most;
• How much investors are committing and the
level of returns they hope to achieve;
• Investor demographics, in particular region,
age, gender and wealth profile; and
• The barriers which might be curtailing the
access of both clients and wealth managers to this booming part
of the investment scene.
We would urge all wealth management professionals in the region to take five minutes to complete our short questionnaire. Participants will receive an advance copy of the report which will be released at the end of Q1 2022 – and be entered into a prize draw for a pair of tickets to the 10th Anniversary WealthBriefingAsia Awards 2022 at the Westin Singapore on 2 June 2022.
