EFG Makes Senior UK Regional Appointments

EFG Private Bank, the London-based private banking arm of Swiss bank EFG International, has named a new chairman and managing director to its Birmingham-based financial advisor EFG Platts Flello. The move follows the retirement of Philip Platts, former regional head of Private Client Services at Arthur Andersen, who founded the Platts Flello business in 2000. It was acquired by EFG in October 2003. Peter London is made chairman of EFG Platts Flello. Mr London is also chairman of EFG Ashby London Financial Services, the Wolverhampton-based financial advisor acquired by EFG Private Bank last August. Mike Knott, formerly executive director, is promoted to managing director of EFG Platts Flello. Mr Knott joined the firm in 2002, together with John Male, who now acts as chief operating officer of the combined EFG Platts Flello and EFG Ashby London businesses. John Williamson, chief executive of EFG Private Bank, said: "This appointment recognises Peter's excellent business connections in Birmingham and the surrounding area, as well as in the Black Country. It will assist significantly in the co-ordination of the two businesses' marketing and operational activities." EFG International is a global private banking group listed on the Swiss Exchange. Headquartered in Zurich, it offers private banking and asset management services from 44 locations in 30 countries, with around 1,600 employees.
