Deutsche Bank Names Ex-Goldman Sachs Figure As UK Team Leader, MD

The new appointee worked at Goldman Sachs in senior roles for more than two decades.

The private banking arm of Deutsche Bank has hired former Goldman Sachs figure Oliver Patterson (main picture) as managing director and team leader in the UK, reporting to James Whittaker, head of DB’s private bank in the UK and Nordics region.

Patterson will be responsible for building a team of UK relationship managers. Structurally, this puts him alongside Alexis Pateras and Adam Proctor in the UK’s leadership structure and will add to its ability to serve family offices and UHNW clients, the bank said in a statement.

At Goldman Sachs for more than 20 years on the wealth management side, Patterson started his career in Goldmans’ investment banking arm. From 2019 he led Goldman’s UK wealth management business in London, overseeing its expansion in the last six years.

Earlier, Patterson's roles included chief financial officer of the EMEA business for Goldman Sachs, and its head of new private wealth advisor hiring and development for EMEA and Asia.

“As we continue our focus of attracting high-calibre relationship managers to DB, we’re excited to welcome Oliver to the team. Given his experience in hiring and developing teams Oliver will play an important role in the continued expansion of our footprint in the UK,” Whittaker said.

Patterson, born and raised in the UK, studied French and Italian at the University of Manchester.

These are busy times at the Frankfurt-listed bank and its private banking arm. In February, it announced that it would be expanding its sports financing business, in particular, in the US and Europe.
