Who’s Moving Where In Wealth Management? – Coutts, Gen II Fund Services, Quantum Advisory

The latest moves, appointments and personnel changes among wealth management and related organisations in the UK, the rest of Europe, the Middle East, Africa and select international locations.

Coutts
Coutts has appointed James Todd as managing director, Coutts coverage, reporting to Wealth CEO, Emma Crystal.

Todd (pictured) brings extensive private banking and wealth management experience, from his most recent role as head of the UK Domestic Private Bank at JP Morgan and 15 years at Barclays where he served in a number of senior roles including, head of Barclays UK Domestic Private Banking and head of Family Office.

Todd’s appointment is the latest in a series of significant hires, following the appointment of Jan-Marc Fergg who will be joining the bank in September to lead the Investment Products & Solutions business, reflecting Coutts’ growth ambitions. In June, it appointed a former Barclays Private Bank figure, Dalia Hammoudi, to be managing director of Coutts International Markets.

“I am delighted to welcome James to Coutts,” Emma Crystal (pictured below), CEO, Wealth Businesses, NatWest Group said. “His extensive experience with high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients combined with his significant leadership experience and dedication to client service will be invaluable as we continue to deliver on our ambition to be the UK’s chosen partner for private banking and wealth management.”

In his new role Mardon will be responsible for building the strategic framework for delivery and managing relationships with Gen II’s real assets clients in Europe. He will also be a member of the European Commercial team. He will also help shape and enhance Gen II’s operating model, bringing market experience to bear in optimising processes, onboarding workflows, and investor reporting through technology and standardisation, the firm said in a statement.

Todd, who has more than 28 years of industry experience, most recently served as head of European real asset fund services at a large global fund administrator, where he had been a senior member of the global real assets management team since April 2018.

Earlier in his career, Mardon served in senior roles at State Street, including managing director and COO for the London Alternative Investment Solutions (AIS). Prior to this he spent 16 years working for real asset investment managers; he held operational and finance leadership positions at Savills Investment Management (formerly Cordea Savills); he was a member of the Public Affairs Committee, (active tenure Jan 2022 to Dec 2024); and AREF’s Finance and Operations Working Group which he joined in June 2024.

“Ben brings exceptional market expertise, operational leadership, and strategic insight to Gen II,” Michael Johnson, chief commercial officer for Gen II said. “His deep knowledge of real assets and track record of delivering scalable client solutions across jurisdictions will be a significant asset as we continue to accelerate our growth and strengthen our focus on client delivery across Europe.”

“Fiduciary Management can be a complex landscape for trustees to navigate – with often subtle, but important, differences in definitions, scope, service offerings and, crucially, value and outcomes,” Amanda Burdge, partner and head of Investment at Quantum Advisory, said. “With trustees already managing a broad range of responsibilities we’ve seen growing demand for our fiduciary management services from those seeking support across all aspects of selection, review and oversight. In response, we continue to expand our team with expert professionals.”

“Anne-Marie’s knowledge of the fiduciary management market stands for itself,” Paul Francis, principal investment consultant and head of Fiduciary Management Oversight, said. “I have no doubt that the positive impacts our team has made through delivering value-add advice to our clients, powered by technological innovation, will be accelerated further by having Anne-Marie on board.”
