GSB Continues Hires, Adds To Dubai Office

The wealth management group, which was founded three years ago and has a base in Dubai and the UK, has made a number of additions to its team in recent months.

Financial services group GSB, which is based in the Middle East and the UK, has hired Joseph Jawad as a senior partner of GSB Private, based in the company’s Dubai office. Jawad’s arrival follows that of several other senior figures at the group in recent months.

Prior to this, Jawad worked for UK-headquartered Schroders as a client relationship director, based in Switzerland, where he served wealthy families across the GCC as well as leading its coverage of Middle Eastern wealth managers and financial institutions.

Before Schroders, Jawad worked at Arbuthnot Latham, HSBC and Standard Bank Group. He has worked in financial centres serving Middle Eastern families, including London, Geneva, Dubai and Jersey.

This news follows the launch of the GSB Capital division, which focuses on M&A, growth capital, direct investment, and a range of other advisory services. Financial services group GSB consists of GSB Wealth, GSB Private and GSB Capital.

GSB has brought in several figures. For example, a new partner is Craig Ritchie, a chartered financial planner who looks after clients in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. He works with his brother Stuart Ritchie as well as Mauro de Santis Bo and Yazmin Boden, who all recently joined the business from AES International. It also brought in Chris Somers from Standard Chartered, Ryan Dixon from Investec Private Bank and Jon Urquhart from Mantra. In May this year GSB appointed Nicholas Jones as part of its global wealth and advisory business, based in the group’s office in Dubai.

The firm also made a number of Dubai-based appointments, as reported here.

In January, this news service interviewed founding partner of GSB, Ross Whatnall. The firm has been building up its business in the DIFC in Dubai. In September 2022, GSB achieved a Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) licence so that it is directly authorised in the UK.

GSB – founded in 2021 – provides wealth management, financial planning, asset financing, personal/corporate lending, private client structuring, multi-family office and a capital markets proposition encompassing private equity, venture capital, M&A, pre-listing funding, IPO, corporate finance, corporate advisory, and private fundraising.
