Kames Capital Further Expands Fixed Income Team

The UK-based investment manager has boosted its fixed income capabilities with a double appointment.

Kames Capital has hired Juan Valenzuela from Alliance Trust and Timothée Pubellier from UBP within its fixed income team.

Valenzuela, previously an investment manager on the Alliance Trust Dynamic Bond Fund, has been appointed fixed income manager. Before Alliance Trust, he worked at Scottish Widows Investment Partnership where he was investment director on the SWIP Absolute Return Bond Fund. In his new role, he will report to investment manager John McNeill, who is responsible for Kames' rates team.

Meanwhile, Pubellier joins from his position as portfolio manager at UBP where he was responsible for risk, portfolio monitoring and FX hedging. As trainee fixed income manager, he will report to Gregory Turnbull-Schwartz, who leads the firm’s financials fixed income team.

Their appointments follow the recent addition of Grace Le from PricewaterhouseCoopers as trainee fund manager within the fixed income team.

“Grace and Timothée have strong financial backgrounds and great development potential, whilst with Juan we have a well-established fixed income manager. In addition they all have excellent language skills which will be extremely useful as we further develop our fixed income franchise in Europe,” said Kames' head of fixed income, David Roberts.

From its offices in Edinburgh and London, Kames Capital manages £56.1 billion ($86.1 billion) on behalf of UK and international clients, including wealth managers, family offices, pension funds and financial advisors.
