Withers Adds To Philanthropy Legal Team

The international law firm Withers has appointed Alana Lowe-Petraske as an associate in the firm’s charity and philanthropy group.
Lowe-Petraske recently worked for Bates Wells & Braithwaite London where she served as a solicitor in the charity and social enterprise group. She also advised the Reuters Foundation on overseas funding while working with the General Counsel’s Office of the Reuters Group.
She specialises in providing commercial, regulatory and tax advice to not-for-profit organisations and their donors operating in the UK and globally, including advice on cross-border structures and transactions, corporate and individual philanthropy, donor-advised funds, fiduciary issues and insolvency.
Withers, the clients of which make up roughly 25 per cent of the Sunday Times Rich List in the UK, is seen as a leading law firm to many in the wealth-management industry. Much of their focus recently has been on explaining new legislation to wealth managers due to the regulatory developments shifting through parliaments and civil service departments.
