Withers Adds To London Team, Expanding International Tax Offering

UK law firm Withers has appointed tax investigations lawyer Maurice Martin as a partner within its London team.
Maurice joins from UK law firm Irwin Mitchell, where he was a partner and head of the business and personal tax investigations team. He is recognised for his background and experience with HMRC, the UK tax authority, Withers said in a statement.
His appointment will strengthen the firm’s wealth planning and global voluntary disclosure practices, which is significant at a time when tax authorities closely follow international compliance, the statement continued.
“With recent developments such as the UK-Swiss treaty and the Liechtenstein Disclosure Facility, we are at a very exciting juncture in international tax law,” said Martin.
The firm has 109 partners and approximately 700 advisors, with offices in London, Hong Kong, Geneva, Milan, New York, New Haven, Greenwich (Connecticut) and the British Virgin Islands.
