Who’s Moving Where In Wealth Management? – Thomas Tyndall, Moonfare

The latest moves and appointments for wealth management roles in the UK, other parts of Europe, the Middle East and select international locations.

Thomson Tyndall
London-based Thomson Tyndall, an independent financial advice firm, has appointed Ben Surtees (pictured) to advise families and businesses. He is based in Midhurst, West Sussex.

Surtees spent 20 years at Jupiter Asset Management as a portfolio manager specialising in Asia ex Japan equities. In 2019, he chose to move to a more personal side of finance, retraining and requalifying as an independent financial advisor. After several years with a Hampshire-based wealth management firm, he joined Thomson Tyndall, which offers "whole of market" advice.

In particular, Surtees will be helping local residents navigate the significant changes to inheritance tax and the Agricultural Property Relief (APR) from April this year. He will also be helping those with personal pensions which, subject to parliamentary approval, will become subject to IHT in April 2027.

“With the right planning, we can help protect the legacies many local families have worked so hard to build,” Surtees said.

Moonfare
Moonfare, a global private markets investment platform, has appointed Alice Avenel as head of France & Benelux. Based in Paris, she will be responsible for accelerating Moonfare's growth among private investors, family offices and distribution partners.

Her appointment will support Moonfare’s European growth strategy and its ambition to make curated, top-tier private markets opportunities more accessible to sophisticated investors, the firm said in a statement. Avenel will be responsible for driving the regional go-to-market strategy in coordination with the marketing and product teams, and strengthening Moonfare's presence at industry events. The firm said its client base grew more than 20 per cent last year.

Avenel has over eight years of experience in private equity, venture capital and international development. Before joining Moonfare, she was director of International Investor Relations at Audacia, where she led the commercial strategy and developed relationships with family offices and institutional investors in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain and the UK.

An entrepreneur, Avenel also founded and developed a consumer brand in London before orchestrating its sale. She began her career at JP Morgan Asset Management in London, then moved to Kepler Partners, where she gained solid expertise in distribution and investor relations.

“France and Benelux are among Moonfare’s fastest growing markets, with AuM up more than 30 per cent last year,” Steffen Pauls, founder and co-CEO of Moonfare, said. “We are delighted to welcome Alice to our team. Her experience, network and knowledge of private investors will be key assets in supporting our growth and strengthening our presence in these markets.”
