Who’s Moving Where In Wealth Management? – Stonehage Fleming, Fortem Capital, Others

The latest moves and appointments for wealth management roles in the UK, other parts of Europe, the Middle East and select international locations.

Stonehage Fleming
Guy Hudson, head of marketing and communications at Stonehage Fleming for more than a decade, has stepped down, drawing the curtain on a 41-year-long wealth and asset management career.

Hudson said he had originally decided to retire 12 months ago, but he retired as of 31 October and announced his departure on his Linkedin page. Hudson said he was happy to extend his time to support incoming CEO Stuart Parkinson and, more recently, to head up the communications for US-based Corient’s acquisition of Stonehage Fleming and Stanhope Capital (as analysed here).

His career has involved time at Newton, Mellon, and Heartwood/Handelsbanken.

“With the firm’s remarkable service proposition and geographic reach, and a collegiate culture championed by professionals of the highest calibre, I will miss the business (and most of all the people) enormously and wish them every success in the new venture,” he wrote. Hudson said he intends to build own coaching and communications business.

"Others within Stonehage Fleming have already or will soon have picked up Guy’s responsibilities," a spokesperson for.Stonehage Fleming told WealthBriefing when asked about the matter.

Fortem Capital
Fortem Capital, an independent liquid alternatives investment house based in London, has appointed Andrew Warwick (pictured) as senior portfolio manager.

He is the firm’s third senior appointment this year, with another six strategic hires made throughout the business. Warwick will manage Fortem’s growing suite of investment funds and play an active role in the design of new products, including bespoke solutions for the firm’s institutional client base. He is joining a “dynamic and growing” investment team, reporting to chief investment officer, Kevin Gray, Fortem Capital said in a statement.

Formerly managing director and portfolio manager at Blackrock, and most recently portfolio manager and co-head of real return strategies at Newton Investment Management, Warwick has more than 20 years’ experience in managing multi-asset and derivative-based investments for institutional investors. His 33-year investment management career also includes spells with Mercury Fund Managers and Merrill Lynch Investment Managers.

“It became clear early in the hiring process that, in addition to his extensive experience and technical expertise, Andy embodies the intellectual curiosity, discipline and collaborative spirit that underpin our culture,” Gray said. “That alignment was paramount as we work to scale our investment platform without losing sight of the principles that have shaped it.”

Fortem Capital was established in 2017 by a group of global markets investment bankers.

Arbuthnot Latham
Arbuthnot Latham has appointed Victoria Gevorkova as a fund research analyst within the bank’s investment management team. Her appointment brings the team up to eight researchers and adds strength to Arbuthnot’s investment management offering, the UK private bank said in a statement.

Gevorkova has a background in manager research across multi-asset, liquid alternatives, and hedge fund strategies. Most recently, she worked as a vice president at Redington, where she was part of the manager research team. Within this role, she dealt with the research and due diligence of hedge fund strategies, including multi-strategy, event-driven, trend following, and equity market neutral. Prior to Redington, Gevorkova worked as a research analyst at Juniper Place, an investor intelligence firm, where she analysed market trends and supported investor engagement across the alternatives space.

Gevorkova holds a BSc in finance and investment banking and an MSc in behavioural finance from the University of Reading, where she also completed a PhD in behavioural finance. Her doctoral research explored socially responsible investing (SRI) and how individual characteristics influence retail investors' SRI decisions.

“Victoria brings a rare combination of rigorous academic expertise and practical fund research experience to the role. Her deep insights into behavioural finance and sustainable investing will strengthen our ability to deliver innovative, tailored investment research,” Jason da Silva, director, global investment strategy, said.
