Who’s Moving Where In Wealth Management? – FNZ, RBC Brewin Dolphin, Rathbones, Chester Rose

The latest moves and appointments for wealth management roles in the UK, other parts of Europe, the Middle East and select international locations.

RBC Brewin Dolphin
London-headquartered wealth manager RBC Brewin Dolphin has appointed Alisdair Dewar as the new head of office for Edinburgh. This follows Johnny McGlynn’s decision to retire at the end of last year.

With 30 years’ experience across financial services, Dewar’s appointment will make a strong addition to the Edinburgh team, the firm said in a statement. Most recently, he worked at Coutts & Co as head of Scotland and North West England. Having started his career as a summer intern with RBS in 1995, Dewar joined Adam & Company in 1999 where one of his roles included leading the various Scottish offices.

FNZ
Alasdair Munro has been appointed chief communications officer at FNZ, a global wealth management platform. Based in the UK, he will be responsible for leading FNZ’s global marketing and corporate communications, bringing more than 20 years of experience across PR, communications and marketing. He has been with FNZ since 2010, which gave him experience of the wealth management technology sector. His role includes strengthening FNZ’s brand strategy to support the company’s growth.

"Alasdair’s experience will ensure we continue to tell FNZ’s story with clarity and impact as we deliver our mission to open up wealth," Roman Regelman, group president at FNZ, added.

Rathbones
Rathbones, a UK wealth and asset management group, has appointed Bruce Saunderson as senior director of wealth planning, based in Glasgow.

Sanderson, who has more than 20 years’ experience advising private clients, families and business owners, will work closely with colleagues across Rathbones’ Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast offices.

Prior to Rathbones, Sanderson was a private client director at Trinity Bridge, with previous senior roles at PwC, Grant Thornton and Maclay Murray & Spens.

Chester Rose Financial Planning
Chester Rose Financial Planning, the wealth planning firm led by Richard Dunbabin, the founder and former CEO of Ascot Lloyd, has appointed Matt Hobbins as financial planning manager. His appointment will support the firm’s plan to accelerate growth across the UK this year, the firm said in a statement.

Hobbins brings more than 20 years of experience as a financial planner, having previously worked for Amber River, a large UK-based independent financial planning network, and Evelyn Partners. He is a fellow of the Personal Finance Society and a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment.

Founded in 2021 after acquiring Heritage Financial Advisers Ltd in 2020, Chester Rose is based in Newbury and advises 650 clients with £400 million under advice. This is Dunbabin’s second IFA business, following his time with Ascot Lloyd, now one of the UK’s largest IFAs. In late 2024, Chester Rose acquired Hencilla Canworth, a South East London financial planning firm that administers a pension scheme for the creative and performing arts.
