International, the asset manager, has appointed Paul
Heselden in the newly created role of head of strategic
relationship management for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa
(EMEA), based in London.
Heselden will be responsible for strengthening and expanding partnerships with Fidelity’s strategic clients across EMEA.
Heselden, who joined Fidelity in 2000, was previously a sales director responsible for distribution in the wholesale UK market.

Russell Speechlys has expanded its international funds and
investment management team by appointing Matthew Griffin.
Griffin will work alongside Jeremy Bell, another funds lawyer who joined the firm as a senior consultant in 2024, to continue to build a funds offering alternative to other firms in the market, the firm said in a statement. Each has decades of experience in senior funds roles.
Griffin was previously head of funds and investment management Europe at Mayer Brown. Before that, he spent eight years as partner and head of funds and investment management (EMEA) at White & Case. He has expertise across London and the Middle East. with more than 25 years’ experience primarily representing mid-market sponsors and institutional investors, including sovereign investors, in a range of funds matters. Griffin has acted on a significant number of complex, high-value secondary transactions and co-investment transactions, and has formed funds across asset classes and jurisdictions.
Alongside the existing London, Luxembourg and Asia funds, regulatory and tax practices, US tax practice and private capital transactions practices, the firm said that Griffin’s hire marks a pivotal step in the development of the firm’s private capital offering.

Matthew’s appointment follows the growth of the firm’s funds practice over 2024 and 2025, including Gaven Cheong recently joining as a partner in Hong Kong.
