Who’s Moving Where In Wealth Management? – Fasanara Capital, Barnett Waddingham, Multrees

The latest moves and appointments for wealth management roles in the UK, other parts of Europe, the Middle East and select international locations.

Fasanara Capital
Fasanara Capital, a $5.0 billion technology-driven global asset manager, has appointed Sebastian Maciocia as director of Capital Formation, UK.

Maciocia is joining from Mercer, an investment consultancy, where he was a commercial segment leader within the financial institutions group, and a member of the global wealth management leadership team. At Mercer, he was responsible for wealth managers, family offices, and not-for-profits.

Maciocia, who has more than 18 years of distribution and capital formation experience, spent nearly a decade at BlackRock in its UK strategic alliances team, building distribution partnerships. He later served in senior distribution roles at Winton Capital, where he launched and scaled the firm’s UCITS offering, and at GAM, where he drove AUM growth. He holds an MBA from IE Business School.

“We’re pleased to welcome Sebastian to our London team,” Francesco Filia, CEO and founder of Fasanara Capital, said. “With his experience in the UK market, he will support Fasanara’s integration into the local landscape and help guide the rollout of our technology-enabled, asset-backed finance strategies across the region.”

Barnett Waddingham
Barnett Waddingham, a professional services consultancy, has appointed Will Scobie as senior risk and resilience consultant.

Scobie (pictured) will help grow BW's resilience practice, whilst drawing on his expertise to support and lead client projects across the wider risk and digital resilience areas. He will also be responsible for growing new business development for the team.

Scobie has leadership experience and knows about how to make organisations resilient, manage during crises and other challenges, the firm said in a statement. Previously, he worked for 10 years at Horizonscan, a boutique consultancy specialising in risk and resilience. His management background also spans finance, operations, HR, business development, strategy, and governance.

"Will's appointment represents another significant step in strengthening our risk and resilience capabilities,” Harshil Shah, partner and head of Risk and Resilience Services at BW, said. “His talents directly align with BW's expanded risk and resilience offering and his extensive management experience and deep expertise will be invaluable as we continue to grow our practice and deliver comprehensive risk solutions for our clients.”

Scobie’s appointment follows BW's recent purchase of Risk Evolves, adding to its offering in cyber security, data privacy, environmental, social and governance, compliance, and business continuity planning. In other news, in April BW was acquired by global insurance and employee benefits intermediary group, Howden.

Multrees
Multrees Investor Services, an operational solutions provider for wealth managers and family offices, has appointed Matt Bain and Ella Whitley to join its client development team.

Bain, who has nearly 30 years of experience in investment management his career, began his career at State Street, then Schroders followed by Capital Group. Most recently, he was head of client solutions and operational risk at Partners Capital, where he spent 16 years establishing and managing client operations across Europe and Asia.

Whitley is returning to Multrees after earlier roles in marketing and client solutions from 2016 to 2020. In the interim, she was business development and operations manager for Whitley Asset Management, a Multrees client until it was acquired by Cazenove in late 2024.

“As we celebrate our 15th anniversary, we’re focused on evolving our service proposition to reflect the real-world needs of our client firms,” Peter O’Donnell, chief client officer at Multrees, said. “Matthew and Ella’s client-side experience means they understand the operational challenges wealth managers and family offices face every day. Their expertise will be invaluable as we continue to cater to the increasing sophistication of the wealth management sector.”

Headquartered in London and Edinburgh, Multrees offers fully in-sourced custody trading and operational support through its own infrastructure.
