Who’s Moving Where In Wealth Management? – Aberdeen Investments, iCapital

The latest moves and appointments for wealth management roles in the UK, other parts of Europe, the Middle East and select international locations.
Aberdeen Investments
Aberdeen
Investments has appointed Herman Bots (pictured) as global
head of its equities franchise. Based in London, he will report
to Aberdeen’s CIO, Peter Branner.
Previously, Bots spent 17 years at pension investors APG, most recently as managing director of equities. He has a background in equity research, talent management and investment process, having begun his career as an energy specialist, the firm said in a statement.
Devan Kaloo, the previous incumbent, will move over to running emerging markets portfolios, where he began his career at Aberdeen 26 years ago.
“We are delighted to welcome Herman, who joins after an extensive search. He is an exceptional investor and people leader, with a keen eye on innovation, technology and tools,” Branner said. “Having worked with Herman before at APG, this was an appointment that I have reflected on at length. He was the best fit for the role, and the panel was in unanimous agreement. We look forward to welcoming Herman in July."
“Finally, my thanks to Devan, who has been and remains a huge part of Aberdeen’s story. His rapid career trajectory, from portfolio manager to emerging markets head in his first five years alone, speaks volumes. A true leader and mentor, he will now focus on doing what he loves the most with our full support,” Branner added.
Aberdeen Investments is also promoting Nick Robinson – previously deputy for the team – to head of global emerging markets equities. Robinson has been at Aberdeen Investments for 25 years, including 18 years in global emerging markets.
iCapital
iCapital, a global
fintech platform, has appointed Brooks Entwistle as head of
International and as a member of the management committee. His
appointment is subject to the completion of all applicable
onboarding and relocation processes. He will be based in Zurich,
relocating from Singapore.
Entwistle will be succeeding Marco Bizzozero, who has played a key role in building and expanding iCapital’s business outside the US over the past five years. Bizzozero decided to step down to pursue a new leadership opportunity with a client. He will remain closely connected to iCapital through the firm’s international advisory board and will support an orderly transition.
Entwistle will be responsible for leading iCapital’s international business across EMEA, APAC, LATAM, and Canada, which has grown to $62 billion since 2020. iCapital’s international strategy is to help financial advisors and wealth managers incorporate alternative strategies at scale as well as helping asset managers open new channels of distribution.
Entwistle has nearly 35 years of global leadership, operating experience, and board-level perspective. Most recently, he served as senior vice president and managing director at Ripple. Prior to that, he was chief business officer, International at Uber, responsible for business development and strategic partnerships across APAC, EMEA, and LATAM. Prior to spending close to a decade as a technology builder, Entwistle served as CEO at Everstone, an India and Southeast Asia-focused private equity firm. Before that, he spent 22 years at Goldman Sachs in various roles, including 15 years based in Asia, where he was a partner. During his tenure, he served as chairman of Goldman Sachs Southeast Asia and CEO of Goldman Sachs Singapore. Prior to that, Entwistle spent five years in Mumbai as CEO and founder of Goldman Sachs India, where he built the firm across all divisions. Earlier in his time at Goldman Sachs, he started the firm’s Asia high technology group and, throughout his many roles and geographies at the firm, he covered financial sponsors. Entwistle holds a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College and an MBA from Harvard Business Schoo. He serves on several boards, including EQT AB and the Aspen Institute.
“Brooks brings a strong track record of building and scaling international businesses across financial services and technology,” Lawrence Calcano, chairman and CEO of iCapital, said. “His experience will be instrumental as we continue to grow our global platform and support clients internationally."
Calcano added: "We would like to thank Marco for being a trusted partner, a cultural leader, and a deeply valued member of our management committee over many years. Under his leadership, we have built a strong and enduring foundation for our International business, supported by a diversified and growing client base across wealth and asset managers, and a high-performing team across our 11 international offices.”
Headquartered in New York and Greenwich, Connecticul, iCapital operates globally with 19 offices, including major hubs in Zurich, London, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Sydney, Abu Dhabi, and Toronto, and an R&D center in Lisbon
