Gresham House
Gresham House, the UK-based alternatives asset manager, has appointed Heather Fleming to the newly created role of head of institutional business.

Fleming has over 20 years’ experience in the sector. She spent over seven years at Fidelity International, latterly as the group’s head of institutional distribution for UK and Ireland.

At Gresham House, she will work closely with the head of distribution, Michael Hart. Fleming’s initial focus at Gresham House will be the British Strategic Investment Fund, but she will also be responsible for developing the group’s broader institutional client offering and fundraising capability in the future. She will be based in London and will report directly to Rupert Robinson, managing director, Gresham House Asset Management.

Hermes IM
Hermes Investment Management has appointed Magnus Kristensen as director of business development for the Nordic region.

Based in Denmark, Kristensen will report into Paul Voute, head of European business development. He will also continue to build on the firm’s operation in ESG and stewardship services. Prior to joining Hermes, Kristensen was head of client relations at Jyske Bank.

Irwin Mitchell Private Wealth
UK law firm Irwin Mitchell Private Wealth has appointed Tony Bogle to the newly-created role of commercial director.

He was most recently head of strategy and performance for Santander UK’s retail distribution arm.

Bogle will work closely alongside the four national heads of private wealth – Paula Myers, head of will, trust and estate disputes; Ros Bever, head of family law; Nick Rucker, head of tax, trusts and estates; and Jeremy Raj, head of residential property. He will have responsibility for driving forward the firm’s private wealth strategy.

Bowman joins as a wealth planner from Coutts, where he was an associate director specialising in complex pensions.

Markland will also be a member of the corporate governance and nominations committee, the audit committee and the remuneration committee. The appointment means Markland is the seventh director to be appointed to the board since Glyn Jones became Chairman in September 2016. Among previous roles, Markland has served for more than 12 years on the board of Standard Chartered, and over 10 years on the board of The Sage Group plc.

The Quilter business, as announced last December, is in the process of separating from Old Mutual Wealth.
