Who's Moving Where In Wealth Management? - Constantine Law, Carey Olsen, Others

The latest senior moves in wealth management and legal services from across Europe and the UK.

Constantine Law
Employment and immigration specialist Constantine Law is adding to its financial crime and regulatory team, recruiting Ami Amin as a senior associate. Amin joins from BCL Solicitors, where she has worked since 2017. Prior to that she was at Kingsley Napley LLP.

Her private practice expertise in criminal and regulatory investigations covers a range of enforcement and regulatory bodies, including advising executives in proceedings brought by UK enforcement bodies. She also works on matters brought by overseas regulators such as the US Deprartment of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission.

She will work with financial crime and regulatory partner Sarah Wallace, who joined the firm last year from Irwin Mitchell.

In other recent moves, the Mayfair firm hired employment partner Will Clayton from Knights in June, and this week Sarah Evans joined as an employment partner from JMW Solicitors.

Managing Partner John Hayes said financial crime is "a growing area of law, given the fallout from COVID-19. We will be looking to boost our expertise further and hope to hire further senior lawyers in this sector.”

Carey Olsen
Offshore law firm Carey Olsen has named Alex Hall Taylor QC as partner and head of its British Virgin Islands (BVI) dispute resolution and litigation practice. He is taking over from Ben Mays who has decided to retire to pursue new opportunities. The firm noted May’s contribution to its on the ground recovery after Hurricane Irma struck in 2017.

Hall Taylor joins having expanded the firm’s BVI litigation and insolvency offering in Hong Kong, Singapore and London over the past year. He specialises in international commercial litigation, insolvency and dispute resolution, including arbitration and mediation. The former Lincoln’s Inn barrister has extensive case management, interlocutory, trial and appellate advocacy experience, including before the Privy Council.

Prior to joining Carey Olsen, he was a dispute resolution and insolvency partner jointly leading the BVI team at Maples and Calder.

Trium Capital 
Trium Capital, which operates in the alternative investments space, has appointed hedge fund manager Tej Johar. 

Johar joins Trium after extensive experience running successful event-driven strategies for a range of hedge funds. He will be responsible for developing and overseeing Trium’s event-driven equity strategies, it said in a statement yesterday.

Johar joins from Man GLG, where he ran a European long/short event-driven equity portfolio. Before joining Man GLG, he was chief investment officer of Broad Bridge Capital, where he also ran an event-driven equity alternative strategy. Prior to this role, he spent almost three years at BlueCrest Capital Management. Before BlueCrest, he worked at Credit Suisse, Marshall Wace and UBS Investment Bank. Johar holds a BSc in economics from the London School of Economics.
