The latest moves in wealth management across the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Brooks Macdonald
UK wealth manager Brooks Macdonald has appointed Andrew Davies as business development manager and Will Bragg as trainee investment manager in its Cardiff, Wales office.

Davies will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with intermediaries throughout Wales and report to regional new business development director, Grainger Thomas. 

He has 10 years’ experience in financial services, having previously worked at Brewin Dolphin for six years, Walker Cripps for two years and also Rowan Dartington. He has also enjoyed a cricketing career at Glamorgan County Cricket Club.

Bragg will help manage bespoke discretionary portfolios on behalf of a range of clients. He will be under the guidance of Andrew Lewis, head of Wales office, and Stuart Hutchinson, investment manager,

Prior to joining Brooks Macdonald, Bragg also played professional cricket for Glamorgan County Cricket Club, as a top order batsman. He has successfully completed the Investment Management Certificate and is currently studying towards the Chartered Wealth Manager Level 7 qualification.

Heartwood Investment Management
Heartwood Investment Management, the asset management arm of Handelsbanken in the UK, has announced that Graham Bishop will be assuming responsibility for Heartwood’s Balanced investment strategy, including the LF Heartwood Balanced Multi Asset Fund. 

Bishop, investment director, joined Heartwood in 2017 and will take over the strategy from fellow investment director, Michael Stanes. 

Since joining Heartwood, Bishop has been responsible for Heartwood’s asset allocation process and he will continue with this role.

Stanes will continue to manage Heartwood’s Growth investment strategy, including the LF Heartwood Growth Multi Asset Fund, and he will continue to lead Heartwood’s equity research team.

Citi Private Bank
Citi Private Bank’s senior portfolio manager and head of multi-asset class solutions in London, Atul Bansal, is to leave the firm, this publication understands.

Bansal is lead portfolio manager of a team of two, which oversees portfolio construction and asset allocation of the firm’s discretionary multi-asset, multi-manager portfolios for clients in the UK, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America.  

He has been at Citigroup since 1989.

David Hertan, director and senior portfolio manager in the Macs group at Citi Private Bank, has taken over Siegel’s responsibilities for the time being.

Legal & General Investment Management
Legal & General Group has announced that Mark Zinkula, chief executive of LGIM, is set to retire from the firm in August 2019.

Zinkula was appointed to the position of CEO LGIM in March 2011 and was appointed to the group board of Legal & General in September 2012. 

The firm is currently underway searching for Zinkula’s successor.

Charles Stanley
UK wealth manager Charles Stanley has appointed Geoffrey Cooban as an investment manager in its Birmingham private client investment team and Kate Nathoo as an investment manager in its Guildford office.

Cooban has 25 years’ experience in the investment management industry. He specialises in bespoke management of equity portfolios, self-invested personal pensions, offshore bonds and charity accounts. 

Prior to joining Charles Stanley, he spent 16 years working at Quilter. 

Nathoo joins the Charles Stanley team from Thesis Asset Management where she spent 16 years, where she was most recently client director. Prior to this, she worked for Daniels Holt as a founding partner in the business.

She has 28 years’ experience in the sector. She manages and advises private client accounts, and work with charities, trusts and professional intermediaries. 

Brewin Dolphin
UK wealth manager Brewin Dolphin has appointed Thomas Pearson as portfolio manager in its Exeter office, WealthBriefing understands.

He joins from Charles Stanley, where he has worked as an investment manager since 2016.

Pearson was previously at Brewin Dolphin’s Plymouth office before joining Charles Stanley.

Hawksford
Private client firm Hawksford has appointed David Burmingham as a money laundering reporting officer. 

Burmingham will be responsible for improving Hawksford’s monitoring and reporting on matters relating to anti money laundering (AML) and countering the financing of terrorism (CFT), including sanctions compliance, internal risk, regulation, legislation and controls. 

He will receive and investigate internal reports of any suspicious activity and take the lead in managing post-reporting activity. 

Prior to Hawksford, he was a officer with over 30 years’ experience in law enforcement and financial crime investigation as a member of the police force.
