What’s New In Investments, Funds? – Hargreaves Lansdown, Fidelity International, Generali Investments

The latest news in investment offerings, financial products and other services relevant to wealth advisors and their clients.

Hargreaves Lansdown, a large UK investment and savings platform with more than two million clients, has launched its own money market fund (MMF), in collaboration with BNY Investments. The fund, which will be available exclusively to HL clients, targets a market-leading yield (3.95 per cent expected at launch) while offering daily access for same-day reinvestment and next day for withdrawals.

“More than 25 times as many HL clients invest in money market funds as they did five years ago, and they’re set to become even more popular once the new cash ISA rules come into force next April," Doug Abbott, chief product officer at Hargreaves Lansdown, said. “Money market funds have long been a core cash management tool for institutions, which have historically had cheap, easy access. Through our collaboration with BNY Investments, we’ve opened up these benefits to our clients with the HL Money Market Fund, which offers an expected market-leading net yield at the lowest ongoing charge in the UK retail market, and with same-day access."

The number of HL clients holding an MMF has risen by 35 per cent in the past year, and there are 26 times as many holders as five years ago, the firm said. Recent research from the IA found that only 31 per cent of cash ISA holders were aware of MMFs. Once given a clear, neutral explanation, 64 per cent of cash ISA holders and 81 per cent of existing investors said they would consider investing.

Fidelity International
Fidelity International is expanding its active exchange-traded fund (ETF) offering with the launch of a new Dynamic Buffer ETF range, designed to help investors manage equity market drawdowns while remaining invested for long-term growth.

Launching with the Fidelity Global Equity Dynamic Buffer UCITS ETF (FGLB) and Fidelity US Equity Dynamic Buffer UCITS ETF (FUSB), the range combines Fidelity’s Research Enhanced equity approach with a strategy that seeks to cushion portfolio losses during moderate market declines, while retaining participation in equity market gains. The targeted level of downside buffer is designed to adjust gradually over time as markets move, but is not guaranteed. ESG factors are also considered when assessing investment risks and opportunities, the firm said in a statement.

Both ETFs were listed on Borsa Italiana and Xetra on 21 October 2026, with further listing on the London Stock Exchange for 22 October 2026 and SIX Swiss Exchange for 26 October 2026.

“Market corrections are a recurring feature of equity investing and can occur without warning. For investors, the challenge is how to navigate these periods without losing sight of their long-term investment objectives,” Neil Davies, head of ETFs at Fidelity International, said. “Our Dynamic Buffer range has been designed with this in mind, combining Fidelity’s research-driven equity approach with a systematic downside buffer target. It brings a new type of equity solution to our active ETF range, broadening the choice available to clients as we continue to grow our offering.”

The launch follows the recent introduction of Fidelity’s Equity Enhanced Yield ETF range earlier this month and brings Fidelity International’s active ETF offering to 30 products.

A number of firms have been continuing their expansion into ETFs such as Pictet Asset Management and Invesco. See more here.

Generali Investments
Generali Investments has launched a natively-tokenised class of an existing Luxembourg-domiciled money market fund (MMF), issued and managed by Generali Asset Management. The new class uses distributed ledger technology (DLT) to represent and record fund units.

The tokenized class has been introduced for deployment within Generali Group’s investment activities, marking the first milestone in the development of a broader tokenised investment offering. The initiative is intended to progressively extend this technology to all Generali Investments clients, laying the foundations for wider distribution and long-term operational efficiencies through DLT-enabled processes.

The market for tokenised real-world assets has nearly quadrupled since early 2025, reaching $39 billion by September 2026, the firm said in a statement.

"As the adoption of tokenisation accelerates across financial markets, asset managers must move quickly to capture its potential,” Woody Bradford, chief executive officer and general manager at Generali Investments, said.

Tokenisation creates a digital representation, or token, of a real financial asset on a distributed ledger. In an investment fund, tokens represent shares/units in the fund, while smart contracts and DLT infrastructure can automate how those shares/units are issued, transferred and administered.

Over time, DLT is expected to enable significant benefits for investors, including near-instant settlement and faster access to redemption proceeds compared with traditional settlement cycles; a simpler, fully-digital experience across subscription, redemption and reporting processes; greater flexibility through extended dealing windows; and improved liquidity through secondary-market trading, the firm said.
