The latest news in investment offerings, financial products and other services relevant to wealth advisors and their clients.

Leonteq, Emirates Islamic
Leonteq, the Zurich-listed structured products and insurance products firm, has initiated a new partnership with Emirates Islamic, based in the UAE. The pact will involve making and distributing Shariah-compliant structured products.

Emirates Islamic will co-design certain trust certificates issued by IBDAA and distribute these products within its client network. Leonteq will provide end-to-end services including issuance arrangements, Shariah-compliant hedging, and lifecycle management.

The Swiss firm launched a Shariah-compliant trust certificate issuance programme in 2022 with IBDAA, a dedicated Islamic issuance entity – an issuer of trust certificates.

Amanie Advisors has been appointed by Leonteq to advise on the Shariah aspects of the programme and the subsequent projects and partnerships involving IBDAA.

Emirates Islamic, which is part of Emirates NBD, was created in 2004. Leonteq has offices and subsidiaries in 13 countries across Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

There have been changes at the top at Leonteq. It has appointed a new chief executive, Christian Spieler (he took the role from 1 March). He succeeded Lukas Ruflin, one of its founders.
