Leonteq, Emirates Islamic
Leonteq, the
Zurich-listed structured products and insurance products firm,
has initiated a new partnership with Emirates Islamic,
based in the UAE. The pact will involve making and distributing
Shariah-compliant structured products.
Emirates Islamic will co-design certain trust certificates issued
by IBDAA and distribute these products within its client network.
Leonteq will provide end-to-end services including issuance
arrangements, Shariah-compliant hedging, and lifecycle
management.
The Swiss firm launched a Shariah-compliant trust certificate
issuance programme in 2022 with IBDAA, a dedicated Islamic
issuance entity – an issuer of trust certificates.
Amanie Advisors has been appointed by Leonteq to advise on the
Shariah aspects of the programme and the subsequent projects and
partnerships involving IBDAA.
Emirates Islamic, which is part of Emirates NBD, was created in
2004. Leonteq has offices and subsidiaries in 13 countries across
Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
There have been changes at the top at Leonteq. It
has appointed
a new chief executive, Christian Spieler (he took the role from 1
March). He succeeded Lukas Ruflin, one of its founders.
