Westpac Names Former ANZ Head To Lead Asia Private Banking Arm

Westpac names former ANZ Asia private banking head D'Souza to lead its own Asia PB arm.

Westpac, the Australian banking giant, has announced a new head for its private banking arm in Asia.

Francis D'Souza brings over 25 years of regional experience in the financial sector and joins the company from ANZ, where he served as regional director for its Asia private bank unit. Prior to that, he spent 15 years in various senior country, regional and global roles in the consumer banking division of Standard Chartered Bank in Asia. 

In his new capacity, D'Souza is based in Singapore and will be responsible for the management and oversight of all of the company's private banking services and operations across the region. 

Westpac Private Bank caters to clients with at least A$1.5 million ($1.4 million) in investable assets, excluding the family and including super, or those with at least A$2.5 million in investments, loans and deposits, or A$400,000 in annual income. 

The announcement came after Westpac logged a 10 per cent growth in earnings for the quarter to 31 March 2014.
