To lead its expansion into the European market, Westgarth Wines, a specialist fine wine retailer, has opened a base in London and appointed a director of sales with more than three decades of experience in the industry.

Westgarth Wines, a specialist in fine wines, has opened Westgarth Wines in London. To lead this expansion, the firm has appointed Steve Weids as director of sales to capture the European private client sector with access to prestigious wines. 

Westgarth Wines offers its clients access to a world of fine wine, portfolio curation, storage solutions, and access to global wine culture, including private château dinners and elite tastings. 

Weids, who has more than three decades of fine wine experience, has held leadership positions at respected wine institutions, the firm said in a statement. Most recently, he served as a sales director for Fine+Rare, following a stint as head of Europe for Zachys Wine Auctions. His career also includes a tenure as head of sales at Atlas Fine Wines and a decade at Armit Wines as head of private clients.

"Today’s collectors want an authentic connection to the producers and the stories behind the labels. We are building something that offers that level of intimacy combined with the institutional rigour Westgarth is known for,” Weids said.
